You never pictured him as being smart? :) I might get me an electric to keep in the car just in case, so I don't have to smell gas when going out during a storm (not for official tree biz work). I'd like to see inside an electric echo and see if I can modify it.

Wildlife reintroduction in PNW , Grizzly Bear ... really ?

They don't need grizzlies to kill blacks, just make the laws and cost of hunting them easier.

    Tree felling vids

It only fell that way because half the stump had no hold of the ground. It looks like it was supposed to go to the left of the other trees. I guess just be aware that if the tree starts falling in an unexpected direction, forget the saw and get away.

    How'd it go today?

I drink regularly, but often not quite enough to have to go on the job. I go in the chips in the back of the chip truck if I have to, or often enough I dump a load of wood at the company lot in the middle of a job and go then.

Whatever knot I use, I tend to try terminating it with a daisy chain for easy untiing. one of my bosses started daisy chaining everything. It beats taking 1-5min to work a well tightened knot loose.

Just around the house I'm happy with grabbing the wimpy Kobalt battery saw for a few convenient cuts. Though, its so wimpy i often give serious thought to getting out the ported 2511t, but its too much noise and exhaust stink for a few cuts around the house.

    How'd it go today?

I don't mind taking it easy, if the pay is the same, though I get tired and sluggish if we slow down too much. I worked for a guy who'd take like an hour and a half to get in the tree. I'm not sure how they manage to be that slow, but otherwise he was pretty good.

    How'd it go today?

They commonly leave the nest at that size. I'm not sure why, because they can barely fly, and I've never seen them hunt or get fed out of the nest.

No, that would be a corded saw, not simply an electric. Those are pretty well outdated now as far as chainsaws go. It gives me an idea for a stupid meme: Shut down lithium mines; buy corded cars. It would be neat to be able to tap off the grid on the go like an electric train somehow. Now...

Its like Echo's 303t and new 25cc power pruner having mini bar nuts that nothing else uses. At least they are 10mm, so a Husqy combo maintenance tool can fit, but it doesnt have a flat blade on the end. The mini spark plugs also annoy me.

    Stahl's logging supplies

Looks like CBN wheels are like diamond wheels: metal wheel coated with crystals of the desired grit. I think regular angle grinder wheels are silicon carbide, which is harmful to breath, but I thought it's normally green, while many cutoff wheels are black, and bench grinder wheels are...

saws with mind of their own

Other than different fuel, the only solution I can think of would be to install a rapid cooling system on the saw into which you put a shot of some cooling compressed gas (CO2 cartridge, or electronics duster) to cool the fuel and carb, and possibly the engine too, but you wouldn't want to...

saws with mind of their own

Canned fuel to the rescue? Might have to leave the saw running. I was trimming hedges recently with a poulan trimmer. It tends to get hot and vapor lock, so I'd always leave it running, and I'd tweak the choke while at idle until it idled a little richer, otherwise it can start to lean out and...

    Stahl's logging supplies

Do you grind them at home, or send them off to your local grinder? I understand it from a production standpoint, but something doesn't seem right when a tree company has a pile of 100 chains that were only used once or twice because they buy new ones instead if sharpening them. I have a bit of...

    Echo 355T

The 355t comes with a large nose bar like a 201t, which I like, but it and the chain are of the same quality as what comes with the 2511t. The 355 has enough power, weight, and spring rigidity to not jump and chatter in the cut like the 2511 on .050.
