    one handed saw use

One hander here! Two hands where possible but using your second hand to steady you on some of the prunes on leggy gums, is the the difference between a safe cut with one hand and an unsteady cut with two. It's a progressive thing though and I'd encourage newbies to get the two handed...

Any safety reasons to not use a particular saw in a tree?

660 is the biggest I can swing but it's tiring.

    Safety suggestion for a non-climber

I've not read any comments as I could get upset if anyone gives you advice on how to climb. It's very simple really "Say no" To climb the tree with the wrong gear, no experience and as importantly 'no' second climber on site to rescue you in an accident situation is just bad practice.

    Basking Ridge Oak Removal Begins?

Is it a common sight in this area with this Oak to grow 75ft over 500 years then put on 25ft in its last 100? Most very old oaks I encountered in the UK did most of their Height in the first 300 to 400 years then grew very slowly upwards after that.

    Tree Limbs Leaning

I got to agree with Grendel. They are just thicker on the light side. They don't appear to be leaning overly either. If you hold your hand up to one eye and split the trees in half, the left sides look pretty normal, and the right sides just a bit moth eaten. I get 'Crown Shyness' if they...

    Tree Injections: Your thoughts

On the epicormic growth, I would say that the trees are tapping into deeper stored resources. The same mechanism that allows cut and stacked logs to sprout. I agree stored energy, but is there a possible resource the tree compartmentalises for just epicormic growth during the development of...

    Tree Injections: Your thoughts

The trees are treated for Elm Leaf Beetle every 2-3 years. They have been treated for maybe the last 15 years here. This was probably only 24" off the ground but I'm happy to go up to 36" with no problem. You can see on these trees where they were done over consecutive treatments so I go across...

If you were driving under the influence you'd get time behind bars for dangerous driving, but any old dick can buy a chainsaw and put peoples lives and homes at risk with no real consequence. That tree was never going where he wanted without some serious pulling gear or at least the back weight...

    Rope Wrench/Zigzag

I used it for a few months but no real advantage over a hitch, as with srt on the wrench it's tending the line either with the ascenders, or pulling up manually like a hitch climber setup. With the runner etc. with enough weight under the line you can self tend on limb walks or short ascents...

    Tree felling vids

For sure. 1 minute isn't much. I like taking photos more though and sitting editing video for hours annoys me. Also youtube has too many idiots on it trolling abuse. Even tree vids that explode in to racism and religious battles. It's a weird place for someone who just wants to be positive and...
