Hate what CA has become. Anyway. It is not just the immigrants. A lot of it is policy for aid. We still have a rash of folks that are homeless or just plain lost about everything and are under employed. Remember that bubble thingy not so many years ago when real estate crashed and people lost home on bad loans. Yeah, we are still feeling that here. Look up homeless in SF or LA. Plenty of news there. A lot of industry has fled the state as well since it is so expensive to have a business here.

As I recall; you made cash arrangements, had the procedure done and paid it out right, only to receive another bill you had to dispute.

Yup! You have to visit to understand it. Or grow up around it or live there. Some of those streets are beyond steep. They laugh at 8% grades. I bet people blow equipment motors from oil starvation on some of them.

by undoing the mandate, shots going to get even more expensive. People think they are healthy until they are not and then the rest of us have to pay for them. never heard of anyone ever staying healthy. maybe for a few years you can get lucky. its funny my neighbor sells life insurance so finally I was like fuck it ill get some so you stop asking me about it everyday. did the whole application wrote a check and then I get a letter saying they will give me life insurance but won't cover accidental death due to my listed occupation. lol. I definitely am not worried about non accidental death. at least my neighbor will stfu about it from now on.

your in Alabama correct? it is right to work I imagine. I bring up line clearance as it is the only union I personally know people in. previous to Michigan becoming rtw, line clearance guys were paid very well and had a great training and apprenticeship program. ince then it has been undercut by hack crews. There has been a real loss of morale and pride in what they are doing. there used to be a local 17 climbing comp for example. not so much anymore. they still are holding it together but it has been a hit.

So your opinion is that line clearance should be a dangerous low pay job done by the lowest common denominator? I guess thats valid we should all just be money movers..

I believe if you really want and need to work, most likely you will find something. May not always be want you know or want .....but. There was one time in MA during the 80s that finding work was extremely difficult for me. I had worked my way up to press operator in a factory. When the factory was purchased by an overseas company, a lot of us lost our jobs. A lot of people lost jobs back then in other areas of mfg. Robotics and computers took some of them. Automation. And there was a recession going on. Less product needed to be mfg. I took the unemployment while I looked. Buggered my toe on a lawn mower and the temp disability helped. Then they had a program to retrain me through the unemployment office after my toe healed. State paid all my wages except .50 per hour by a company willing to train me. I can't remember for how long. But obviously cheaper at min wage for the unemployment insurance and it gave me work and a new trade that paid better later. Not near what I made at the previous factory, but enough for the time coupled with a part time gig I put together for myself. Seemed a good program for the times.

That is how right to work is in AZ. Easier to find another job than get unemployment. I was able to join a plumbers union though. But the shop I worked for was non union. So it was more of a learn here thing, and maybe we can find you work later.

Sometimes it gets a little hectic. I was in 5 groups but had to cut back a little when I got married. Two of the groups have a weekly practice and several shows a month. The other group only does shows. They don't really ever practice. And it shows but they have fun.

if the president can allegedly rape his wife as well as pay off a porn star to not tell her story I see no problem with a governor with maybe not as much financial means allegedly taping a married women to exercise equipment. who needs standards anymore.

Congrats Fiddler. Sounds like a heck of a group. I've got blisters on 3 fingers try to get in shape for February. Busy bass month. I'm in 3 different groups full time. Even then I still want to play more. We've only done one show in December. We've got a UCP benefit tomorrow that we play every year at this time. We'll be at SPBGMA first week if February. It's the highlight of my picking year. If anyone is close to Nashville that weekend it's definitely worth checking out. All the jamming you can handle. I'll usually sleep 3 ir 3 hours in 3 days.

Should I change the title? I don?t think so. It?s subjective. The felled trees precisely didn?t wreck anything. I?ve been around a lot of cutters here in the Northwest that get a lot of collateral damage by comparison to me. And they don?t care which is why they get it. Both with the attitude they cut with and the attitude they skid with. I?ve seen better cutters than me for sure but generally speaking... Aug

  9. Hey Gerry- 2 quick questions for you...

1- I'm on the verge of buying a video camera to make hd quality splicing vids (some to sell, some to youtube). I'm looking at the canon HG-10. any thoughts? What's the secret to getting HD vids up on youtube?

2- I'm getting inquiries from people wanting to climb the redwoods. I think you saw a thread from a trip where i took some people up...but these are up in the state parks where, as you know, climbing is prohibited, Any suggestions for some private land where the owner would let me earn money on their property? I'd be glad to pay, of course...

    Hope all is well...

    love
    nick
  10. Aloha Jerry!

I wanted to write and thank you again for setting the whole rec climb up. I'm really looking forward to meeting you.

I know you closed the number of people several weeks ago so I feel bad for asking - a very close friend who lives in Portland is thinking about driving down to see me while I'm in humboldt and I told her I would have to check with you first to make sure it is okay. I am camping nearby but I would want to hang out with her so I was writing to ask permission if she could tag along with us.

If that doesn't work, no problems at all Jerry. See you soon~!

    ~~~ Jon
