I agree! It's like owning a Ferrari and just leaving it sitting in the garage. Why own something that does nothing but sit there and not get used? I don't really own any high dollar guns...my AR is the most expensive one, but I machined the lower receiver from an 80% forging. I built the lower and found a nice upper for it on clearance. I keep it oiled and cleaned, but do I fuss over it? No. My nicest gun is a Mossberg 500 20ga youth shotgun. It's nothing special to some, but to me, it's my go-to skeet, deer getter and home defense weapon. It fits me well. I treasure it as a great shotgun. My concealed carry weapon is a .40cal Taurus that I found at a pawn shop, just like my shotgun. All of these guns get shot, they get enjoyed, they get cleaned, they get used for what they are intended to be used for.

I know what you're implying all too well! Just how big of a problem is alcohol, let alone substance abuse on the cape and islands these days anyhow? It was bad enough during my brief tenure up there a few years back.

Tonight was a vegetarian scramble wrap. Egg beaters Florentine, some mixed grilled veggies, and the last boca-burger crumbled into it, all on a low-carb, multi-grain wrap.

Since I was relegated to the toaster and microwave at the hotel tonight, I microwaved my burger, but otherwise it was a boca-burger on low-carb 12 grain bread, broccoli and cheese, and cinnamon-orange herbal tea. Twas tasty! :D

I'm wearing something slightly similar. Before I left home in December to hit the road, my corpsman friend said that if I needed a pair of boots, I could grab his barely worn pair from his time at Club Gitmo. Since my Redwings loggers were beyond repair (Hey, I had them for 10 years... they more than served me well), and were beyond comfortable, I said fine. I figured they would be some standard issue Bates or whatever the flavor of the week was at the time of purchase. I ended up with a pair of Oakley MK-II 8" rise boots. http://www.oakley.com/products/mk-ii-assault-boot-8-inch-hot-weather/11093-889C A free pair of boots that fit like a dream, and made in America...thank you Uncle Sam, and thanks to my friend Doc! Even though they are designed for warm... ok HOT environments, they have still been decently warm even on days here in Iowa with windchills in the -20's. They dry out nicely, and have excellent snow and oil/grease traction, which is fine by me as I have been doing a decent amount of walking every day.
