IMO if you're going to buy a truck for hauling stuff it might as well be a dump bed. Why have a flat bed if it doesn't dump? I suspect if you lose the Vermeer trailer then at some point you will regret it. Any of your employees willing and able to store it for you in exchange for some minor compensation?

When I suggested freeze damage it was an idea I had from when I visited cousins in Connecticut about 15 years ago and climbed a few trees for them. One tree had similar damage on all the exposed limbs and after some discussion I guessed that it was freeze damage from either an early or late freeze several years earlier. My guess was that the sap froze in the limbs causing them to crack from the inside. At first I thought it looked like sun scald as well.

Deva, the mufflers are retarded easy on these. Remove the side cover, then use a T27 to remove the screw holding the deflector on the muffler. Take a large flat screwdriver and shove it into the exhaust outlet and wiggle it around a little. Replace the deflector (without the screen). Replace side cover and run the saw.

I'm guessing the EPA regulated carb is set too lean. Most likely there will be limited (if any) adjustment, just like our chainsaws. Inspect the choke mechanism and make sure it's working correctly. If not, you can remove the air filter and dribble a little gas down the intake. You can also manually block off the air intake with your gloved hand to mimic the choke operation (be aware it may spit a flame back out the intake from the gas or starting fluid). A longer term fix will be to find a way to adjust the carb so it runs properly. You may need to run a larger jet to get more fuel.

Fixed. She had me crown raise an oak over the carport as well. Been a few years since I had done it. Wind was making it scrape the metal roof. Everything fit in the dump trailer for chipping into our garden. Had I brought the chipper, it would have been two trucks instead of one. As it was, she had us rake all the leaves. Her and the hubby used to just let the deer handle the raking. He passed, so she's the boss.

The 150 isn't loud at all. I never wear ear muffs with it. I'll put them on if Ron is running the chipper though.

Trimmed 16 oaks at a closed restaurant today for my big landscaper client. Chipper is working awesome. Finished about 2 and came home to do a job for my neighbor, split oak tree removal in his back yard. Got that down and finished filling up the chip truck. I'll pick up the logs tomorrow or later when I have a place to put them. Best part of the day was Ron getting buzzed by a big red shoulder hawk. He said he felt her talons in his hair but she didn't leave a mark. She sat about 50 feet away and watched us very closely (like a hawk) for the next half hour till we finished.
