I read that as Fancy Tree Work, plain camera work. No drones, hollywood effects, POV cams, cams being launched with tops.

Looking for advice. I'm finding a bunch of figured wood lately. Trying to preserve blocks cut from stumps, and burls. Maple has a lot of figure and burl. Madrona had root burl, which I haven't looked into yet, but will be on the look-out. Stump blocks have less obvious end-grain, and pieces of wood are all different shapes from being cut out of stumps. When the end-grain was more evident on some blocks from this summer, I got it all painted. Is there a way around this? Maybe I need to use a sprayer rather than brush. Someone here mentioned this for some application. http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=20048&cat=1,43456,43390 Right now, I'm cutting a lot of spalted and burl maple blocks out of a huge stump. A pressure washer has been more of a help than I could have imagined. Lots of sharpening. Found a few good sized rocks, and a few hidden inclusions with pockets of small gravel. Learning as I go.

Sunny here, two days in a row. Hi in the upper 40s, maybe 50. Going to finish cutting a stump. Should get some nice stump blocks of spalted and/ or figured maple. Pressure washer and chain grinder going to the jobsite. Hoping to turn into stuff like http://www.ebay.com/bhp/spalted-maple. Going to put my new bandsaw "tire" on the wheel, and I should be ready to cut up some stuff. Learning all the way.

Seems like a cribbing thread could hold its own. I'm curious how people manage slopes. When I ran a bucket, the manual said no more than 5 degree slopes, IIRC. The lift was spec'd for 2 outriggers, but it was built with 4. Versa-lift. We set up level, but the flat metal outriggers were right on asphalt. Do outrigger pads give better traction? We were mostly on flat enough ground but ran into some wet, sloping pavement on occasion. How steep of a slope is spec'd by different manufacturers?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gateway_Arch Thought I'd double check my trivia... They used hoses to spray the arch with water to fight thermal expansion in order to install the keystone at the top. I went up in it as a kid. As I recall, the thing we rode in (maybe seated???) Moved up, then sideways, up, sideways.

i can see how a bag could rupture. Some Japanese sometimes don't like to spur trees they're removing, as it disrespectful, apparently from Jay's anecdotes. They do weird things over there, including sandbag plus wood cribbing. I suspect pics are in the Paul's/ PCTree's Grove crane thread.

IDK how you most situation is. Might want to scrub the outrigger pad placement before dunnage. Maybe Jay's sandbag methods.

How about robbery? Sometimes CL ads are set-ups for robberies. "I need cash now to pay my mortgage. Buy my car for 50 cents on the dollar, cash, so I don't lose my house." Suppose someone wants to rob someone, is there any way to put a timelock on some of your cryptocurrency, so that you aren't able to be robbed of everything? Do people have many accounts to avoid this?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corruption_Perceptions_Index I have no idea the validity of this index. It places Denmark as least corrupt (misuse of power), Norway at #6, and USA at #18. Might factor in. Rich, what is available for people seeking substance abuse treatment?

Its raining here, seriously raining. Thought I'd prune 3 fruit trees in a backyard since there is supposed to also be a bit of wind and rain. Pissing down rain, I'd call it. Dry in my 'office' chair.

I see. Almost all of my chips have been used for landscape mulch and foot paths. The cows loved to play on the chips, dragging their chins through it, spreading it around, and it was a nice, warm (composting), high and dry spot out of muck. Maybe they liked the higher vantage point, too.

IDK. Seems like gate areas, or any other high-use area will quickly become a muddy mess if left as grass. Might be collectable in those concentrated areas. I've never dropped chips for horses.

A cool set-up. Not much to sit around and watch, though, as mentioned. haha. $5000 USD for the largest boiler, ~$3000 for the smallest. How much space does the whole set-up occupy? What kind of lifespan do you expect?

Fresh chips aren't muddy. Lots of horse people have tractors to move material. Wonder what horse manure and wood chips makes? Would it become good or decent as a soil amendment over time? Seems horses eat "green" and chips are "brown". My neighbor used to use them for his cows. Definitely became messy around the feeder (concentrated time in one area to add urine and feces). He should have cleared down close to the gravel base annually, and/ or gotten more gravel to raise the wet area. Delivered free is hard to beat for an old farmer with a tractor.

Sorry to hear, Fiona. I'm in this camp. PPE is the last line of defense. First work out what happened (positioning, work plan, judgment, complacency). The saw didn't find your arm because you weren't wearing ppe, and a ppe sleeve doesn't protect more-easily damaged hands and wrists.
