Seems like the spar that broke, the rigging point was lower than where you were cutting. If it had been higher, less force. But that piece that broke probably weak anyway. Better rope running might have helped. Add it all up in physics, force won. Kudos on everyone living another day.

Licensed Timber Operator. We need it for the permitting process and if we sell the wood or wood product.

Back in Cali. Started my LTO class. And since any tree work I have done does not count towards my hours of 3000 I need for my application, I'll have to take a lessor rated restricted license until I can accumulate those hours over the next 2 or 3 years. Basically, a firewood type harvest license. Oh well, getting an education for when it comes time. At least I know the players and the game better.

They do old friend. Just good to remember we all go through times like these. Vent a little here, get it out. Putting animals down kind of does a number on me anymore.

Took a day off. One of the dogs got hit by a car and I had to put her down. Kids and Katy were a mess. They needed to go 2 hours over for stuff at the charter school branch we home school from. So I did the driving and took them to lunch. Seemed to help the mood a bit. Thursday I leave for colorado to see my dying sister. I just need to go to work tomorrow and bury my saws in some trees.

Silly things about self destruct and break off at the ears. Check Ebay. I think I even got a cheaper one from my dealer than 50.00. I think Forrester has them as well. Aftermarket. I gut ty he little things and open them up.

Check around and see what got traded in around you Sean. That is how I got my 10'. I got fed up with craigslist. Called around. Picked that white beauty up for under 3500.00. Guy traded it up for a larger trailer. Then the co went through it to sell it.

I have a 10' and a 12' The 10' has 2' sides with pockets, so we made 2' sides for it. The 12 has 4' sides. All steel. The weight difference is pretty significant between the two trailers. Remember, you can only load what you can pull and more importantly, stop. Wood sides help keep some of the weight down on the trailer. I use them for chip boxes as well. And Dingo transport.........

Yeah, I just dont see SRT on the ball being advantageous unless you need to work off the ball and setting chokers in places that friction would be an issue Ddrt.

Hard for me to put in words. But there are times I move around in canopy to the next pick. Seems to work faster placing me ready while the ground removes the pick. Sometimes I even take and extra sling with me to set up the next pick. Bee bop a door whop... Maybe the less friction. Maybe just the cinched tie off ... just seems quick.
