Yep, large fits well. We have a Sala Exofit too (not the Nex) that we used prior to the Petzl. The stitching started falling apart on portions of the webbing. This was not webbing that was part of the life support.

http://www.treestuff.com/store/catalog.asp?item=15875 Willie, we have been using this harness for the last year and we really like it. I like that you can put it on like a vest with no need to step through. It is also only take a couple seconds to adjust it, which is really helpful if multiple people are going to use it.

This looks very similar to the no knot rigging system that was developed. Why the change in direction from that product?

Sean, we made a quick setup for the HD BMG Scoops because the stock setup kept resulting in bent pins. For the regular non HD scoops, we have not made any changes to the stock design because it works fairly well.

It really depends on the type of work we are doing. If the work is really technical or difficult then I will call it. Much more often than not though, we are working in the rain. We have light duty rain gear for an extended periods of light rain or short bursts of heavy rain, but we need something for the heavier rain. The more the business grows the more important it is for us to keep working, therefore we just have to suck it up. Like August said in his video, it does make you appreciate the nice days more.

Speaking of rain, do you guys in the PNW (Sean, August, Willie) have a recommendation for a brand of good heavy rain gear?

We have a Vermeer mini and a Giant, and the Giant is very clearly the better machine. Articulation is your friend.

The 540 is great, we have almost 2000 hours on it, but it only sees action on the really big trees or projects where it is useful to use both machines at once. The giant really fills the void for most jobs. It is lower impact, so we don't have to worry about using plywood as often. We have the aggressive dual tires for rough terrain and the turf tires for the low impact lawn work. The lift height on the giant with the telescoping boom is darn near the same as the the bigger 540. The giant also fits perfectly on the same trailer as our Carlton 7015, where as we need to bring a separate truck and trailer for the gehl. Not a huge deal, but it is more efficient for us. Our vermeer mini is 10 years old and never sees action any more. And as much as I loved that machine, if I were to start all over again and buy my first machine to forward material, it would be the Giant. It blows the doors of the mini, it's not even close. Faster ground speed, higher lifting capacity, higher lifting height, more turf friendly, and can still fit through a 36" gate. It is the real deal.

This machine is the real deal. It has been a blessing and a curse. The blessing is we use it on 95% of the jobs. The curse is that we have mini skid and a Gehl AL540 that just sit now! If you need one do it all machine, this is the one.
