Lol. Good to see mayhem runs rampant everywhere! Rocks were just what was handy that day. I used to love building matchheead bombs and blowing stuff up. I did light the bank on fire above our house once. Fire department and everything had to come out. Lol. The bank below our house overlooked the highway and there were lots of big ponderosa around. Not hard to add up the math there. Yes we ran from more than one motorist after assaulting their vehicle with pinecones. Man what I wouldn't give to be a kid again!

Don't feel bad Deva. I got skunked on a chimney job today too, turned into a free consultation, woulda liked even a $20 spot to soften the wasted time. It's just part of being in business.

Nice. I've driven that highway countless times and stopped in the grove many many times too. Such a cool spot. Big props man, a common thing for you but that's some big tall work.

A flatbed can't that easily be used as a backup chip truck. I mean you have to build a box and unless it dumps....... I had the f550 flat deck and a f350 with a chip box/dump. Besides the forestry bucket truck guess which of the other two trucks was in the starting lineup? My flatdeck sat most all of the time. It was handy for hauling plywood, bettter than a chip box truck. Besides that? It is my opinion while a flat deck has many uses it doesn't make the greatest tree truck. Even with little sides on it at best it's wide open unsecured and often slippery storage. Everything that gets put on it is in plain view usually. Making it not great for rigging, hand tools, saws or any other bits that can easily go walking. if it's kept as a true flatdeck anything that's loaded on it needs to be strapped. Making it not handy for wood. As soon as a flatdeck becomes a box it's a lot more handy, but then it's not a flatdeck.

It's a time gone by. Cool as all get out but hardly practical in this day and age.

Reminds me of when I was a kid. I lived next door to my two cousins and I'll never forget my one cousin hurtling a rock at the other. Right through their car back window. Sorry guys, time for me to go home!

Bachelor tonight as my girls are out. Frozen burger pattie with a fried egg on it I think will be the gourmet meal for the evening.

I have a flatdeck on my 550(kept that truck when I sold my business). I didn't find it that handy for treework. Not compared to a chip body/dump. But like others have said I too had a dump trailer. I thought ocassionally about making/getting ramps that would allow me to load my mini-skid but never did. Always just hauled it in the trailer.

I couldn't imagine not having a dump trailer for treework. How do you handle/dispose of wood?

It would be cool if viable. I had a neighbour as a kid that did horse logging for his main income. It was super cool but not to profitable I think for most involved. A labor of love.

I had a quarter horse/Percheron cross for a couple of months. Charlie. He was cool as f-ck. But unfortunately he was lame and the seller took him back. They couldn't grab him for a couple of months so he stayed with us. To the sellers credit they even paid us board for the time he was with us until they picked him up. You don't get sellers that honest in the horse world often.
