Same here. It goes to the lowest bidder with no loyalty except for the dollar. Or the lack of.

Fluffy tailed rats. I feel bad if I discover babies in a nest I've bombed out but I get over it. Part of this distaste is from my early years when the bastards had time to climb up. They would get up there and piss down on me!!

I go to the bank once a week and they remind me when I have a payment due. It's nice going there and it's been the same people for the 13 years I've been going there. That was a cool vid Mick.

Yup. I'm guessing a leak in a fuel line or needing a carb. Short of that my only advise is to pop out the spark plug, shine a flashlight in there and look for a scored cylinder. Honestly I think it's a carb or fuel line issue. Could be wrong though.

No pics but we had the last steaks out of the freezer with mushrooms and onions plus corn on the cob. Corn was obviously not fresh but it was good for Ohio in February. Dinner was a bit late but momma wasn't complaining as the girls and I did everything. They even seasoned the steaks while I was on my way home.

Looks good to me ! I had an overdone steak tonight at a benefit dinner. Likely my fault as I was drinking beer and bullshitting with the cook. I won't complain. The proceeds go to a good cause. Got tickets for a spaghetti dinner in two weeks as a fundraiser also. I consider these things a cheap date for the wife and I as well as helping someone out. Plus it's good times for the community.

It happens. I've only gotten service drops but both times the power co was pretty cool about it. What are the chances that ten years apart I get the same lineman to show up. First was a dead limb that broke off on impact and flew up in the air and ripped it down. Second was a bad judgment call on a piece of wood that didn't kill power but put it on the ground. Both times the guy told me to go park around the block till he fixed it so his boss would not see a co logo and want to bill it out. Got his number saved in my phone now. He will do a service drop for me free of charge as long as I give him 24 hours notice. Unfortunately I have to deal with ten different power companies these days. At least I know I'm good with one of them.

Pulled out of the shop and made it two hundred yards and my truck died. I'm guessing we had some water in the fuel that froze up since it was 10*F this morning. Mech is messing with it now. It was fun getting drug backwards with a chain on a stare route during morning rush hour. Just pulled into the jobsite now at 10:15. I've lost all desire to work today. I guess I should go and make an attempt to salvage the day.

It was 60 yesterday and we have 1-3 inches of snow tonight with a high for tomorrow in the mid 20's. with the rain we had yesterday the trickle of water from the levee turned into a raging torrent of a river. Environmental came out to check on us and our erosion control passed with flying colors. We filled the semi trailer today with chips and have about a half load worth of tops stacked up at the chipper. Almost have the floppers all done and starting with pull ropes tomorrow. I have a couple to climb tomorrow as well. Damn cottenweeds can't be trusted to hold a hinge at the present time. Water just pours out right now. Couldn't get a single one to stay true to the lay today. All were a bit off. Nasty stinking things anyhow!

And a guys gotta eat also. I'm not about gouging someone but I'm not about to lose money on a job either. If a truck costs 100k, you need to bill out $100 an hour for it. Since he's doing it himself this might not apply but for an employee making $25 an hour, the employer is paying out closer to $50 an hour. My guess at $150 is bare bones money. Covers cost.

Not crazy about the bend radius either nor would I want to dead catch a big load on it but it will do the job of a block in most situations as David and a few others have shown in their videos.

Sounds like T&M. That truck wasn't free. It cost you money to own and run. Of course it cost almost the same to own it and have it sitting at the shop doing nothing. I would say at a minimum you need to be hitting 150 an hour on that setup just to cover cost. I don't know you're personal situation so I'm guessing.

Not yet. We're grinding primarily with a 65 horse tracked Vermeer. It's not built for the work it does. Less than a year old and had had a cylinder replaced and on it's fourth turbo. The beast of a grinder is coming though. Most likely it's one of the two big purchases this year. The other is kept top secret till I see it. And that's because I won't believe it till the keys are put in my hands.

Dang Cory, you wanna see more of the stump grinding?!! I bet the guy that runs our grinder can knock that excitement right out of you. I've only found one thing more boring than grinding stumps and that's watching someone do it. Just hacking on ya, that's all. Good stuff August. I enjoy all your videos. I think a blend of both styles would appease all.

I don't know much about those. Is it basically a wireless LMI ? Obviously it's not gonna send out a buzzer when getting close to a limit but I think it's a good idea. It's nice to put actual weights up against what we estimate them to be.

Today went ok for my crew. We got a lot done for the conditions. That was good. Had a guy rear end someone this morning, tail gate ripped off a chip truck, tub grinding guy showed up wanting paid in full( which was supposed to be billed out next week, not really a big deal but today was a bit busy),and my bosses brother had a guy get hit with a saw. Everyone is ok. Guy that got cut spent some time in the ER to have muscles and other pieces sewn back together but is out and ok. Spent a few hours discussing what happened and how it will be dealt with. I need to see him tomorrow to hear what he has to say what happened but it was decided tonight that PPE violations will not be tolerated by anyone and is cause for immediate dismissal. I'm just glad it wasn't worse. Bad thing is that I was on that job yesterday and warned them that someone was gonna get hurt if they didn't fall in line. Sorry for turning this into a rant. Still trying to figure out what went wrong today. Is it a full moon? I need to think about this, get my job finished tomorrow, and work on some other things that are going on. I'm seriously praying that I can actually get a good night of sleep and wake up refreshed enough to deal with everything.

^^^^Kevin, that's the ticket. One thing I liked about those little chippers is the size of the chips when sharp. Almost like sawdust from a great cutting chain. Easy to work with and move. They also break down rather well
