I only watched the first few minutes, at which point I realized I didn’t have the time to watch it all, but looks good to me. In my neck of the woods it counts as logging.

Yup. Kinda neat to see the snow cloud when you drop em though. On the other end, it makes it damn hard to see what’s coming down with it. Keep a heads up and stay safe Shawn.

Two hours ago we were at -4 so I decided to stay inside for a bit. The dog decided to chew through the sweeper cord this morning. No big deal, the wife will pick up another one this week. Well the kids decided to get into an argument with a box of cereal so now I need to splice said cord. Looked and I seem to be out of butt connectors and electric tape. How did I get so unorganized that I forgot I needed electric tape? I didn?t even know it was possible to run out. Even the roll I keep in my lunch box is gone! There has to be either a vile thief running around my neighborhood or one of those dang garden gnomes is making a stockpile somewhere. Oh well off to the hardware store I go.

I’ve just been taping my busted ones onto the light and grease gun since they last forever on those two tools. I should prolly search to see if I can buy the casings.

I went with the dewalt because that’s what our mechanic uses and he is able to get them for me at a good price through NAPA. The only problem I’ve found is the impact beats the hell out of the batteries. Ive got two that I have to tape on because they cracked where the screwmounts are. Hard to warrentee because dropping can cause this as well. We’ve learned to watch Home Depot for sales. A few times a year you can get the 5amp hour batteries 2 for $100. I don’t use mine everyday but when I do, I use the heck out of it. The 5a/h batteries will last for quite a while in the grease gun.

Or call the FD. They don’t put 10,000 gallons down your chimney like the old days. From what I was told it’s a chemical that chokes the fire out very quickly. Like a fire extinguisher. I will agree that water from the bottom is a better approach than dumping from the top.

I tried the toast thing Butch. Either all the hype made me think it tastes that much better or it really does taste that much better.

Lmfao. I’m going with my Irish heritage today and getting a bit of a buzz on. Hell I might even go light up a bonfireib this balmy 12*f weather. German side of me can’t walk in the house cause of the kraut I got cooking plus the pork tenderloin. Stig I know you don’t choose to be a veg. I don’t hold that against you

Phew. Dodged a bullet. I thought Stig was gonna start shunning me because my Irish comes out in my hair from time to time. It’s worked for me as well though. Some people say I drink to much. I say I’m half Irish and they say I drink to little. To the OP, your weight will be an issue but it can be overcome. It’ll be tough but you can do it. I’ve worked with plenty of guys that were overweight. They got the job done. Being lighter helps with pruning and some removals bit the job can still be accomplished. If you decide to pursue it, make an effort to lose the lbs. it’ll help out immensely

I hate wedges popping. Doesn’t happen much but if I try to stack them it’s a guarantee. I plunge my second or third wedge prior to the back cut because of this. I offered a fix in my mind to someone but apparently I’m the only one with this problem. I just use shims for the extra height now

I just don’t get it. The dog and I have gotten along great for 5 days. Tonight he shit next to the door but never gave any sign that he wanted out. What ever. The wife took care of it. I walk in and the dog runs to his kennel and proceeds to growl at me. I just put a blanket over it but damn he is pissing me off. Is this a dominance thing?

I made up a batch of chicken noodle soup for the plague infested family this morning. A few more hours and I?ll add the noodles and eat. I come inside occasionally to check on things. The wife says it?s torture smelling it cooking knowing it?s not done yet.

I think there is a song about that. I think it’s called “if you’re gonna be dumb ya gotta be tough”. Not saying you’re dumb by any means Stig. Song just popped in my head when I read that. I was actually debating leaving my keens on to go split wood but I’m gonna switch to my redwings so I’m not in the same boat as you.

I think they’re a tapered bolt. Still need to pre drill but they will self tap the hole on light gauge steel. Like a heavy duty sheet metal screw.

The keep full method works in theory. Good thing you got a couple or three cord of cottonweed as a supplement if shit gets nasty. If I ever see -20 or colder I will go outside that day for a few hours just to experience what you have to deal with.

I’m not a big fan of restricted oil flow to the pump either. Bad deal. Mis diagnosed problem. On another subject, I properly diagnosed the family with having the flu ( type b) two days ago but we had to load everyone up and visit the doctor so she could agree with me. It’s dark now and I’m thinking I might split wood all night just to stay out of the contaminated area. That’ll teach me to take a week off work to be with the family

Thanks for making me feel like a sissy Jim! It’s 14 above here and I came in to warm up my hands. Of course I didn’t plan on being out quite that long. Took a bit of effort to start the mini and get the hydraulic hoses off of the bmg. Gonna be going away for a couple days with the wife and kids so I’m getting as much equipment in the garage as possible. Things need to get snow melted off of them and I really want the mini to start when I get home Thursday. I need some rest. I was up till after one am working on the minivan. Damn automatic door got stuck open and after tearing half of the vehicle apart I was able to disconnect it so it can be used manually.

Not that my wood burner is old but that’s how I heated my house till we had kids. My wood burner just blew heat into the basement. It would remain a bit chilly upstairs but waking up in the morning and stepping on warm tile in the bathroom was so nice. Jim it might not heat your whole house all night long but it would help reduce your furnace usage if you filled it up before bedtime.

As for mx you can’t beat a Honda. I blew up a few Yamaha’s and just couldn’t kill the Honda’s. They tried to kill me many times over and they were winning the war. I was into quads not dirt bikes but same idea. Down graded to a little Kawasaki now and it can’t get out of its own way which is what I needed at the time.
