Sounds a tough run out there, was/is your house under much threat? Not married or with kids here, I meant the old boy as in the old man.

I think its generational as much as cultural. White farm boys go pretty hard

We've been getting a few lately on prune ups that come running out saying "enough, enough, tell him to come down hes taken enough off" its not something we are familiar with but its totally ok

Its the only way to be, you start negotiating at the bid and then they will think its fine to renegotiate once you've pulled up with your rig.

Thanks for caring all-much appreciated and best wishes back to you & yours also. I'm mindful of the fact that much of my crew lost their fathers way too early when they were still teens, it would have been a tough road to travel. He had symptoms consistent with cancer of the kidneys so they told him straight out it possibly could be, its more than likely a cyst.

Pretty relieved atm, the doctors told my old boy he may have cancer earlier this week. Cat scan results came back good, family is everything.

I hate being asked for the "a la carte" menu, just make your order please. Seems those clients are ditherers mostly but here we are generally talking small items, suburban/urban yards ie how much for that 15 mins? and how much for that 25 minutes x 6 etc. Whereas you likely have multiple significant trees in semi rural properties etc. I watched a jobber webinar about positive online reviews, the nuts and bolts of it is ask your clients to write the reviews, otherwise they will likely not happen. I will now trade small extra items for reviews.

I never considered weather as part and parcel of the "valid for" time window, its not so much relevant to my local conditions but I can see how it is in your case. I may reduce mine down to 45 but to be honest it doesn't seem to play much of a role apart from giving me some ability to adjust the price of dated jobs with inflation and increasing overheads..

Sounds like you're smashing it 8) "Booking fee of 9.5%" ? Do you need 10%? 5 might be easier to swallow and still has em hooked lol I have 90 days expiry on quotes, it seems reasonable enough. But I hope to have terms and conditions shortly cos I know most people wait until they are stung before they put them out there..

Op these people calling you are not from Google at all. I like the flexibility of adwords, if I get swamped I just turn it off...

Our local authorities tell HOs that they must engage a CA for tree work to be compliant with legislation. Once you read the legislation that they reference there is no mention of it whatsover. But its not worth trying to explain it to the client. The motivation behind this is to make it hard for the hacks to get work. Fair enough but it seems they are happy to lie in order to achieve this and also disadvantage the good operators which are not CA.

Chris E replied to a thread Chipper Poll Question in Gear Forum
I bought my first chipper (bandit 990) a couple weeks ago  and was looking at starting a maintenance type thread... info from manuals conflicts to that of bandit mechanics etc so I'll likely have a few questions coming up. I'm keen to look after the machine so it will look after me etc, hydraulic hose are not currently on the list of matters, fluid is though-does everyone replace fluid yearly? I know a guy that whos chipper pissed fluid all over someones lawn and it pretty much ruined the day.

I hate it when you try to make sure you have everything onboard but still overlook something, its almost as though the extra effort helps you forget the small items... Mick thats interesting you don't use throw lines.
