Great stuff. I know the speech "I'm almost certain this is going to to work, so I'm not saying run, I'm saying be ready to run, that's all"

Ok, got round to watching it, thanks for posting, I have nothing to add to what others have said about alternative methods. Shows how when stuff goes bad, it goes bad quickly. As you say, ironic how the lift was brought in for safety reasons.

Looks like a good way to meet fit, broad minded, interesting, supple women. Sorry if that seems shallow, but it's what I was thinking.

Reminds me of the Dutch guy who worked for me, when I asked (nicely) if he could see his way clear to using the phone less (he was on the phone with the other hand on the lowering rope) he replied "some of us have lives outside of work you know!" It's a shame you're not in the tree game anymore Justin.

I had similar issues with a old 200t, two different mechanics "fixed" it. Ended up spending half of the price of a new saw on it. New crank seals, refurbished carb iirc. There was talk of carb boot leaks on similar threads on AT, which I think is what Sgriff was referring to. Dont throw too much money at it is my advice.

I don't doubt the efficiency of your business, the fact you managed to sell it as a going concern bears witness to that. Sometimes there is a tendency on this forum (and others) to eulogise about the whole "my way or the highway" thing. Not digging you out specifically. Phones are now considered "a right" like it or not, everyone brings one to work.

How do you think the "work pictures thread" comes about? Professional photographers?

No offence meant Butch but you've been out of the game for a while, things change. I also seem to recall Justin having all sorts of issues recruiting.

TBH, yes, his wife has ongoing medical issues, he doesn't abuse it, that's the key.

Agreed, but I like regular, short breaks, time for a quick cup of tea and a cigarette, gain some composure, assess what's left and how well approach it.

My current groundy brings his phone, checks it at lunchtime and breaks, if he tells me that he needs to be available to take a call for a good reason, I'm ok with that. The one before was a nightmare...

It happens, you just tell them not to make a habit of it. I could not envisage getting anyone to work for me if they couldn't bring their phone.

The driver was right, don't get out, don't open the window, don't engage. Maybe she had already damaged the car and they were waiting for the coppers. But yeah, I'd have hightailed it.

So here for example, you'd lose a mètre of lift height using a bmg. Plus you'd have to get the balance just right to land it flat/straight compared to a grab like this.

You know the grapple thing intrigued me. As some may know I'm getting a new loader and asked about a bmg. They couldn't supply one so I just went for the silage grab. I look at the vids and cannot see how it would be advantageous to have one, if I was feeding a massive chipper yes. You're losing height for loading onto a truck for one thing. I may well get one later, but ATM I reckon a grab is more useful. Willing to be converted though.
