That's what I was thinking, probably find a way to blame him anyway. Had a really good day until coming home changing gears got a bit strange. 4th 5th & reverse. Got here carefully. Slave cylinder maybe, I hope it's not worse.

Been getting enough work to keep me going, but haven't really tried that much. Had a fair bit to do around the place, lined up some good contacts so shouldn't be too hard when I get back. Going to be cold then though.:coldcold:

Too much to do at the moment, maybe next year. Funny thing, where I was working today was just next door to a physio I went to once years ago. Very attractive blonde, she told me to relax. I said this as relaxed as I'm going to get.

Thanks guys. Not a bad day, sun was shining and I've got some work so can't complain. Except my computer died so had to get a new hard drive. Ended up getting some extra RAM and a bigger graphics card as well and Windows 10, so I should be right for a few years yet. It was eight years old and done a bit of work, besides I haven't bought my self a birthday present for a while. 8)

If you're using a green wheel get the best you can, that stuff will kill you. Protector Alsafe is in Wetherill Park they carry some good stuff. https://www.protectoralsafe.com.au/ Better still get a diamond wheel and chuck the green wheel. Edit. Looks like Blackwoods have taken them over, been buying stuff from Alsafe since the 80's when they were in Girraween. Blackwoods have been around a long time and sell everything, but prices are bit more. https://www.blackwoods.com.au/browse/respirators-halffull-face-reusable/202003314 Smithfield last time I went there.

Mine as well, I talk people out of doing that quite often. And do myself out of money but next time I go past I'm glad I did. Sunday and it's getting cold, split some wood and planted some chili plants were the frost shouldn't get them.

New Zealanders hate snakes, that's how I got the job on the Snowy Hydro System. I missed out at first, the boss put on a team of big Maroi guys. They lasted till the first Brown Snake was spotted and bolted, left the saws behind as well. I was there for two years after that.

Glad you got that info, you should notice a big difference when you get it all sorted. I've said it before but if I was buying another chipper it'd be a Chipstar. I can't go to those shows anymore unless I win the lottery.

Well I don't think I'll be rushing out to buy one. But it went alright, once you get used to the stupid safety bar and the knives were blunt. Crap chips, so I had a look and I'd say someone fed a few rocks through it. I've never run a chipper that blunt. Never been one for hiring stuff, last thing I hired was a jack hammer about '79. That wasn't blunt. About six hours just chipping, fair bit of dead wattle (that's hard) and a mix of other stuff and it went alright considering. Tows well, you wouldn't know it's there.

Colin Seis, I think he's got a bit better idea about things. http://www.pasturecropping.com/pasture-cropping Here's a PDF about him and his Pasture Cropping. http://www.soilsforlife.org.au/downloads/12%20Winona.pdf

That's a bit beyond me. Farmers do it tough here, pretty hard to compete with South American and EU imports and tarrifs with only a small population.

Canada didn't wreck our pork industry, subsidized pork from Denmark, The Netherlands and the US did though. Most bacon sold in butcher shops here is Canadian, most people don't know that. It's because it's mostly bigger than local stuff, and cheaper. Packaged bacon is mostly either from Denmark or made here from imported product, then sometimes marked as Made in Australia. Still a fair bit of Aussie stuff around but you have to look for it. About 70% is imported, only about 1/3rd of pig farmers now compared to ten years ago.

Wow, off topic after four posts. That must be some sort of record, thanks Mike. I know you've had a good run with yours Dave. What I really wanted to know was has anyone run one of these, seeing as I didn't get to yet. It was a fuse evidently, that's what I thought but couldn't find where it was. Got it booked for Monday so I'll see how it goes then. There was a guy using it one street away a few months ago on a big fallen tree, I was really busy here and by the time I got there he was gone but he sure put some stuff through it. Big pile of chips.

They flooded us with bacon, not too much Aussie bacon around these days. If it's not Canadian it's Danish, put a lot of people out of business.

Anyone tried on of these yet? http://www.vermeer.com.au/new-equipment-details.php?ProductID=896&CategoryID=78 My chipper is still in Sydney and I needed one yesterday so I hired on of these, unfortunatly I didn't run it before I got to the job. Started up ok but the feed roller wouldn't work, thought it was just me at first but ended up taking it back. Left there with the mecanic scratching his head. Nice little chipper though, infeed is 8", a lot better than the old 6". Be a perfect size for me here, not that I'm planning on buying a new chipper. Can't do that job till next week now so I'll have to wait and see how it goes then. Please don't turn this into a Vermeer knocking thread, we've been through that before.

I've had heaps of chickens and other poultry, I liked bantams but they're a bit of trouble. Best layers are Isa Browns, they'll lay every day and don't go broody. And very quiet. Last ones I had layed for 3 years, they usually die not long after they stop laying. Bantams just keep living and eating and making a noise, but they're nice to have, unlike roosters, I can't stand roosters crowing.

I remember you talking about that before. Never liked having signs on my truck in the city, too many nut cases but when I moved it was a bit different so I got a magnetic sign for the tailgate. So when I'm just in the truck people can see it, when I want. And had one like this made up like your a frame, just stick it in the ground anywhere you like. Real estate people use them a lot, big enough to see phone number etc. Seems to be working so far.

Never done it and never will. Yep, and rip off merchants. Couple of news stories and court cases a few years ago about some locals. Lot's of trees at my old house so it was never ending, mostly I wasn't home but a few got the message. One guy even came in and I had the truck and chipper in the driveway.

Mine was Billy Thorpe, 1963. Wagged school to go and see them. He went to he US a few years later and did pretty well. He died a few years ago at 60, pretty fit, just died. Some fancy guitar work here. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/WrHoEx7cpDM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I think Chuck was in jail then. I did this once, only it was me in a Star Model Ford and a Mark VII Jag. No cops. Ford's didn't handle too well but they went faster, I got there first. 8) <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zov8kEFjja4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Those guys are crims and run most of the drugs and illegal guns here, and some seem to think they're invincible but they're slowly killing each other off. Quicker the better for everyone. Strange how we can't get an extradition treaty with Lebanon, it was just do it and hop on a plane back home for a while but since Isis and Syria they've cracked down on that a bit.
