You won't regret that one, Fi... best literature on tree-work ever written, bar NONE. Any treeworker who hasn't poured over that one many, many times is doing himself or herself a serious injustice. It's more than a stupid, "how-to," though... pretty sure Beranek's soul seeps through that work, and many times, bleeds all over the pages. Not kiddn ya. Good stinkin book. Really good book. I like all of his Face Cut pages... all done with a nasty old 056... worst saw ever invented. Don't get Gerry started. Actually, I once used an 056 super that was really, really nice.

Generally you can get a horizontal branch to swing some, b pretty dependent on species. Also, if you are new to this, buy the book "The Fundamentals Of General Tree Work"! Learn up

I've been planning on making a mobile pizza oven for about a year now, bought a trailer for it over the winter, an have been looking at, head scratching since. Well, I finally got the oven base made up today! 2 inches of perlite concrete for insulation, anchor bolts into the plate steel deck. Butch, how do I post pictures from my phone here?

Man, you (I hope you see this) are so freakin cool. I respect a man to no end who's big enough to throw-up all his mistakes (like you've always done) all over the stinkin internet. Your dad raised a really respectable man. I'm freakin proud of your father, man, seriously. There've gotta be so many young dudes who are bound to learn a ton from you. Just don't quit, whatever you freakin do. Yer a really good man, Human. Stay the course. Your life has more purpose than half a dozen billionaires who just mow people over to get what they want. I've got a feeling that God rather likes you. Yer vid stuff is really inspiring to me... thanks so much fer doin it.

Downside to a 9 in chipper is there way less common tho... Maybe some Brits will chime in, I think they tend to use smaller chippers.

I have a Hennessy camping hammock that I love. Wouldn't work in a tree tho bc you climb in from the bottom. If you're going to stay in a saddle anyways, maybe try a medium grade hammock like Eno or similar?

  1. Oh.... Thanks then Steve. That was a bewildering weekend for me for other reasons. I apologize for spacing-out. Any chance you'll make it to Zip-fest? We plan to go.
  2. Nope, not me Jed. I met you at the get together at Indian Henry.
  3. Pete:

I grew up in the Midwest, (Minnesota, South Dakota) but we (my wife and nine-year-old daughter) live in the East Puget Sound area in Issaquah, WA--near Seattle. Cool place. Rains incessantly nine months of the year, but grows really beautiful, tall, straight-grained Firs.
  4. Idaho is great. Lots to do for someone who lives outside. Where abouts are you from Jed?
  5. Hey... does anyone out there ever have troubles with gunning sights giving inaccurate reads? What do you do? (Stihl MS 440, 32")
