Cool idea, best of luck. Moving away from fee-for-service is a tough sell, but an interesting model.

Whoever he is... that guy can stinkin cut. Hey... that ground looks pretty steep in that first shot. Did you guys have to spring-board that first stump for the far-side, or were you all-good from the ground just reaching up high?? You guys don't need a crappy arborist to come out and take pictures of you guys, by chance, do ya's?? I come cheap, brother... coupla three beers er so at the end of the day, and I'm all good. Anyone try the carbon fiber poles from Bailey's? Traditional ferrule, 75$ for 6 feet. Not sure on the weight.

I f-ing love Courtney Barnett, first CD I actually bought in a while. Love the tune Avant Gardener, such clever writing. Some folks don't dig her monotone voice though. A millennial's female bob dylan. IMO <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/bcnIhzaDTd0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Cool post, lots of metal knowledge there. The other piece was not bent, almost perfectly fit back, until i dropped it in the leaves. Imo pantins are too damn expensive to break like that.

ruel started a thread Petzl Pantin Failure in Gear Forum
So I bought a Petzl Pantin a few years ago. After a bit I nicked the webbing strap with a handsaw and was figuring it would eventually snap. Not the case, kept hanging on for the past year or so. Last week I was doing some view pruning, lots of up and down climbing srt with foot and knee ascender. last tree of the day, about 10 feet up the tree, my right leg just collapsed thru the foot loop on my Pantin. I thought oh, the webbing finally broke, but back on the ground i saw the metal body of the pantin had failed. Anyone else experience failure in the metal of their foot ascender? I didn't expect this thing to last forever, but the metal breakage has me seriously sketched out. Possible bad casting or something? Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar happen. I know a foot ascender isn't life support, but it was still an unpleasant surprise, which raised some questions about the quality of Petzl's products to me. I'm pretty upset about this, kind of messed up my work plans with my ascent system being off line! some pics of the pantin

True to a point. Pretty sure if Tom Brady and I got into a football throwing contest, he would win until I bust out the new super hyper ultra football cannon. Playing a whole game, skill wins. But for single tasks from the game, I think technology is a leveler. Thinking of throw line and ascent specifically.

  1. Oh.... Thanks then Steve. That was a bewildering weekend for me for other reasons. I apologize for spacing-out. Any chance you'll make it to Zip-fest? We plan to go.
  2. Nope, not me Jed. I met you at the get together at Indian Henry.

I grew up in the Midwest, (Minnesota, South Dakota) but we (my wife and nine-year-old daughter) live in the East Puget Sound area in Issaquah, WA--near Seattle. Cool place. Rains incessantly nine months of the year, but grows really beautiful, tall, straight-grained Firs.
  4. Idaho is great. Lots to do for someone who lives outside. Where abouts are you from Jed?
  5. Hey... does anyone out there ever have troubles with gunning sights giving inaccurate reads? What do you do? (Stihl MS 440, 32")
