We had ours well over 20 years. I remember having to change the belt(s?) in it once...still worked when we gave it away or sold it (don't recall).

Yes. Grew up having one around. Dad was an old time pattern maker and always had a shop going at home when I was a wee squirt.

Not real a wonderful day. Still feeling like crap. Checked on the net and found the fiddle tracks I worked on for four days weren't accepted. Then get a call cancelling me for a show I had booked to play. That's enough of this being awake...think I'll lay back down again.

Bad time to try unionizing anything. Union Busting is the goal of most in party in power...right to work and all that. Watched all the auto workers drop to less than 1/2 their wages and lose benefits during the bush era. Hard to trust Union heads anyway...record miners strike back in the day they got sold out and lost all their bennies and built up retirement for a pittance of a raise that wouldn't come close to covering the bennies they lost.

So how many db @ frequency studies have been made for suppressors? Pretty common knowledge that it is not just the amount of sound but certain damaging frequencies that hurt hearing. Ear protection has been proven to reduce harmful frequencies...how about suppressors? They "diffuse" sound, but do they filter out the damaging frequencies? Or is this "hearing protection" thing just a scam being pushed by gun sellers? Anyone got any hard info?

JIm, I hope the stack of notes she brings home from the farming conference is taller than the quilting notes. Had a cold coming on last night...plenty of coughing, sneezing, dopey feeling etc. today...taking it easy. Mostly reading, napping, an dog petting.

Man, can't count the times I've played that...brings back memories of older times. Use to be more steel players did it than guitar guys.

What's new? :P Glad it's getting covered for you Rich. Just more recording and listening to mixes today. The guy in the UK who is doing the mixing & guitar work is really good at what he does, but doesn't quite understand our hillbilly mountain type music. Hopefully by sunrise I should have all my fiddle tracks cut and uploaded.

I agree also on the pos vs neg. I can't add much that hasn't already been mentioned except: If it were me, I'd lose the pictures of the guys walking around on the sawdust covered roof unless they were matched up in a before and after pair...but that's just me maybe... Some of the font was a bit small for me to read without my glasses. Overall very nice though!

Stig and Pete, your posts just helped me to not miss tree work again. Brought back so many memories of fighting adverse weather conditions to accomplish something. Got a message this morning that I had four bass tracks I did for a recording all accepted...sweet...now on to writing and cutting the fiddle tracks.

Moving isn't in the cards, Jay. You've hit on my own advice I've given to many who were looking for work. "Your only limited by how far you will travel to get a job". I've been trying hard to find something of quality that is fairly local, but it hasn't worked out so far, so time to expand the search but not quite as far as you mentioned.

Rich, I don't have a day job in the Winter, so I turn into a night owl. Break time. 2am. 2 new bass tracks in the can and working on a third...keep messing it up so gonna let it set and go back to it in a while. Hoping to finish this bass stuff out tonight and start on some fiddle tracks tomorrow. Been recording on an album for a gal out of Annapolis, Maryland who sounds a lot like Emmylou Harris to me. Some guy in Surrey UK is doing the guitar work and the mixing, while some banjo and mandolin are getting cut by a guy Raleigh N.Carolina. Not much noise this time of the morning in the Winter, so it's a good time to do some recording. Glad I've at least got this internet stuff to keep me musically motivated. Not getting much of any response from all the adds I've answered over the last couple months.

  1. Iam glad it's working for you. That is one really great looking Banjo. How often do you play? Do you have a band? I have a buddy down here who has a blue grass rockabilly band. They went all over California and the north west last year, and they are gone alot this year. Hope it rains for you, Have a great day.
