Ah come on big fella, you know as well as I do you have enough right now in your envelope stashed in the shop somewhere to go out tomorrow and buy one. I swear there is something to this sup thing. If a person likes kayaking, and who doesn't, an sup is so much more versatile, interesting, and engaging. You could take the kids and dog on it too. You could get a bunch of thinking done on it instead of getting it all done in the combine. I hear ya on saving money here and there. I do the same thing as do most of us. But sometimes if you happen upon something new and different which can periodically help put some perspective on life, maybe make your down time/recreation time more rewarding than usual, then you can make your uptime/work time mo betta too.

So Gawt damn, I finally got out a few times lately. Last week went out for a quick hour ride with the fam, my back was all messed up from who knows what so it had to be a mellow sesh. Then today I went out at 6pm to a small, local, calm estuary that I wanted to check out. It was fun and beautiful sea grass shore scenery but very shallow and low tide also. An SUP only draws about 3-4" of water when you move to the front some to lift the rear fin out of the water, so it was NP. But the shallowness prevented me from pulling hard so on way home I stopped at a beach on LI Sound and put in there for an hour trip out into the wind and then down wind/some surfing on the way back. There was one sail boat out there as far as the eye could see. I scratched the itch, for now. Just putting this out there should there be any like minded water/exercise/nature/fun addicts reading Geez rewatching the above vid for the fishing board, IDK how Jim resists that board, it seems custom made for his burly frame and mindset.

Is it learnable by most anyone? Or is it more like the idea some people can roll their tongue and some just can't?? I can get some up and down rolling but nothing side to side.

Omg this is so silly. Its the inter webs, its all good. But can you imagine Jed or August or Rich etc etc noting an interesting or unusual hinge they made and then refusing to break it down in detail when folks inquired?? Omg that is funny and bizarre. I suppose there's mental illness or beefy personality quirks involved, its all good.

Why is pulling fiber a problem when felling from the ground and when you aren't cutting logs for grade timber? We'll draw daniel in by having a wrong headed, feeble discussion about the cut in question so he will feel compelled to educate the commoners.

cory started a thread TEDx talks in Odds and Ends
You've probably all seen these various talks a time or two on youtube. Thought maybe if there are particularly good ones they could be posted here by and for the TH brotherhood. You've probably heard of this guy, a SEAL who's gotten high profile in the past year or so. There’s alot of motivational speeches n chit out there but this short piece is pretty darn good. Lmk what you think. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ljqra3BcqWM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Holy shit I gotta hear les and ZZtop a little later but thanks for posting. Yeah so today near the end of the day after the men left the job I was so tired that I took a nap in the bucket truck for a 1/2 hour with the radio on quiet. This song came on. I feel sure we've all heard it a thousand times before, and I'm guessing most of us like it cuz it's a fine song. But whoah, listening to it today in altered consciousness, I realized it is an absolute f'g masterpiece. The melody is simple and perfect, and the lyrics are clearly the work of a genius, ya know, same as a Da vinci or someone like that. Who knows what this artist is like in real life, maybe she's a lunkhead. But this one song proves, to me at least, she's a musical genius. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Qo14OpyyCH8?list=PL57rQ5yVAuaRignd_ZcroQAm3RvKfG5I4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

What are the odds DM will tell us the ins and outs of that stump. Maybe he wont cuz feels hasn't been given enough respect for that which many of us don't understand, yet. 60/40 he'll tell us.

Statistically speaking, you are likely to die far slower than the deer. He was more or less at the height of his powers and likely died in less than 5 minutes. Modern humans tend to die slowly.

omg you think the very basis of nature is flawed or wrong?? Being eaten alive no doubt sucks major ball sac but geez, it is what it is. Predators hunt and sometimes kill their prey. It creates survival of the fittest. If you have problems with that then lordy what don't you have problems with?
