I know about the full adjustability of the device as I have climbed a fair bit on it. Of the ropes I have tried the htp was the only one I managed to get it to operate to a remotely acceptable level. Maybe, my levels and expectations are too high. I work as a contract climber and really need something to just get on with the job and get climbing. I have said it before, I have had it running sweet one day only to not operate correctly the day after. I don't climb on the Yale family of ropes as they are far too bouncy IME due to changes made for CE marking. I have tried it in Cougar Blue/ Orange, Kernmaster and the htp.

It was on Sterling 11mm htp. This had been the only rope I have managed to get it to work on properly. Maybe the cams nhave worn a bit and the device needs adjusting. I didn't have the time to delve further and start messing... it was a rigging job, third day of hard climbs in a fairly hot weather spell. I did t drink enough, easy to say with hindsite, and my head was spinning. So I just packed it up and went home the tree got done another day. I really, really want this device to prove me wrong and be consistent, but so far I haven't found the sweet spot. One day when I have a bit more time. Or get these new cams mentioned earlier.

Upgrade rain bollards? That is news to me. I have become disenchanted with the Akimbo of late. It sits in the bottom of my bag. I pulled it out the other day. Climbed to about 70 foot on an ash tree. Started to descend to a limb and the thing just wouldn't hold me. I ended up just going all the way back down the the base and packed my kit up and went home. Any improvements on this device might actually get me using it in earnest.

I have some old photos somewhere. I will endeavour to dig them out and scan them. I have quite fancied taking my kids to circus school training. Unfortunately there are not enough days in the week at the moment. Maybe when things settle down a bit I will find something for my boys.

I did quite a lot of stuff with a flying circus when I was over in the US in '97. I worked on a resort that had a family flying circus as an activity. Most days if we could, we would fly. My friends wife did Silks and Spanish Web. She even got into Cirque du Soleil but unfortunately she became pregnant. When I was travelling around I made it to Bloomington, IN a couple of times to catch up with them. They were in full on performing mode with quite a few shows. We helped with the rigging of the traps, p-boards and netting. They also had a yard for practicing and perfecting routines with a full time trapeze rig and trampolines with safety lines, amongst other things. I used to love messing on the trampoline and trying to see how many layouts I could do back to back. I only tried the Spanish web once. I was so pissed up I almost blew chunks with the spinning effect. Happy memories.

I am thinking of getting one of these for my next purchase. Swazi is quality gear and all I have heard is good things about these jackets. http://www.swazi.co.nz/shop/high-vis/karona-anorak/

I have seen quite a few of the new design pantins go in the same place. I reckon they are made from Chinesium.

I use a fairly standard low voltage battery as these are coil less, so minimum V the better.

Haha. I'll have you know we have had the great burning orb in the sky recently. Wake up to Jack Frost and his pals. Fresh cloudless skies and about -2*C. BUT I get what you mean. Normally it is wet and damp here. The sort of cold that gets to your bones even though it actually isn't that far down on the scale.

Jamie, do you have a link to a vid (i am sure you posted it) or information on how to go about tuning the Akimbo. I seem to remember the video saying adjust the top first till it runs up and down and then adjust the bottom...? Am I right? Cant wait to get ahold of mine. Thanks.

biggun replied to a thread one handed saw use in Chainsaws!
I have to disagree to an extent. Of the few I have used, great tool but i see people being complacent with them. No Noise seems to dull there senses somewhat to realising what is actually in there hands. I have also found that if you forget the chain break or it gets knocked and released when moving saws about and one touch of the trigger get the chain spinning. It has happened to me a few times when the scabbard has been on as I have been loading and unloading kit.

Sounds an awesome oppertunity. A bit of forethought and planning and I reckon it'll be a buzz. Do it whilst you can.
