Not really Reg. The gap at the codoms was terribly tight towards the end. I made the cut towards the middle instead of boring it. No pinch on the saw that way. He would lift and they would float away towards the road. Load never passed over me.

Nice truck Reg! Won't pull fast, but she'll pull. Here some picts from caning the remainder of the stem. Better Stig? Out camping with the scouts this weekend. Just came down to the beach from Fremont Peak. No Internet up there.

Damn Pete, that is seriously ugly. I had to use the basket on the crane today after two picks and some binding of the trunk and a branch union. Nasty bugger. Don't know if Mike got and pics. Nail on the head Stig. Hate these dead buggers. Some fodder from yesterday after rigging some logs off so the crane handled the last 4 picks over an electric box and a drop off. Used the crane to load them onto and into trailers and went to the next nasty. Levi in the pics for reference.

Top it they asked? No says I. Probably already dead from beetle attack and topping not only bad for the tree, but the turpine Released from topping will probably draw the beetles in to finish the job. So today, we start dismantle after someone else topped it. All stripped and chipped today. Upper topping at 100 feet. Tomorrow, negative blocking and gin pole now that the codoms are stropped in two places. Crane on Friday for the larger wood before we go crane out a nasty cracked and dead oak.

Bid the job by the tree adding them all up. Remember that clean up and wood removal can be 1/3 to 1/2 of the entire bid. http://masterblasterhome.com/showthread.php?19429-45-Trees-3-climbers-3-weeks-of-residential-logging

You don't want to be the cheap solution. You want to provide a good service that is considered a good value. This goes a long way with the working class and fixed income folks.

Exactly... Also, it is part of closing the deal. Pull out the book, show them all the names in front of them... Then book em danno.

For example, took down 6 smallish to medium sized pine, chipped, bucked logs, material stayed on site.... 1600.00 Lady asked wood to be removed 2 years later, solo truck, trailer, dingo, 800.00 transport to my free dump site for burning. SO add another c note or two labor to burn. Only reason it was not more money, is that she opted to keep some of the smaller logs for a dog training obstacle course. If you get under bid, stop dancing around the customer and walk away. How many others liked your bid on different jobs and did you make enough money... Really pay attention and ask yourself, divide by hours and make sure you are not making store clerk wages. Take 40% off the gross to fix and buy shat before you ask yourself if YOU made enough.

If a customer asks me how much just to drop and walk away I always consider the risks involved when pricing. I might be 99% sure I am going to lay it down exactly where I want it. There is that 1% chance of a mistake! Ok maybe I am more like 80% sure it will land where I desire! Lol Personally I love when a customer wants me to just cut and leave. It might take me and one groundie an hour to drop a tree and walk away with $500! Also if you quoted appropriately on the clean up they are likely to go with that once they see the mess. I don’t own a lift but occasionally rent them myself. I have found myself in the same situation when I can’t go any higher and decided to rig bigger than usual. Thanks for posting TreeMuggs! Much respect for sharing your experience! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Buy the Echo, don't look back . I have 2 now. Best warranty and the parts for fixing the pole, motor etc are cheap. 2nd motor on my first one after years. Seriously.

Had to put our milk cow down yesterday. Bummed out. Seems I can't find relief day to day or at the end of it. Always some crap to overcome. Tires me out. Pruning some valley oaks is helping with my frame of mind. But..... Not gonna contribute much from here out. Wish me luck.

Never a bad foot with me friend. I admitted my lazy ways on those tosses with lean to my favour. Burnam has called on my practice more than once early on. I learned a lot from those critiques and from others. Mind you, others have deaf ears outside boxes......

  1. Rope armour is who I was saying hello to. This other new fella chimed in and stated he was new here at the exact moment I was typing my greeting to Thomas, so it looks like I was addressing him but actually I was still saying hi to RopeArmour.
