Yesterday was warm but horridly windy(50mph gusts). Today was a gorgeous 60 with 5-10 mph winds. Tomorrow is supposed to be 45 with 40mph gusts. Next week is forecast to be the upper forties and sunny so it sounds pleasant.

Slide show of the flooding in SW Wa.
http://www.kptv.com/slideshow/weather/18436858/detail.html
Pretty bad....12.5 inches of rain at Steven's Pass ski area, Hyak Ski area half obliterated by mudslide/avalanche....I-90 and I-5 still closed. I dunno if any ski areas will open tomorrow....Crystal maybe.
Besides Hyak, no word on how many avalanches came down in the mts and ski areas, but there's no doubt that there were many destructive ones.

I posted this last nite at AS:
Stevens Pass has recorded over 11 inches of rain in the last 40 hours....
Excelsior Mt slide path on the Mt Baker Hwy, ran at least 3500 vertical feet, a 100 year slide path. The mt is not that close to the hwy
http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=52811&stc=1&d=1231373363
here's what the guy who shot the above photo says:
Here is a pic of the 542 slide.
I did not want to get any closer as due to the amount of water coming out of the hill side I feared the chance of either another slide or a mud slide.
This thing is big. probably at least 30 feet deep on the HWY.

We just had a cold front go through...all of 72* this afternoon, snigger, snigger:P
But when the wind shifts to the north, it may plummet to 60*...:O

+3˚ when I went to the farm this morning. Had to plug in the JD.....has done fine until this morning. Chopped pond ice for the herd to get water....only a few inches thick though. Not bad. At least it wasn't snowing/blowing. I thought my forehead was going to fall off yesterday driving straight into the wind. I bundled up a bit better today, also. Put my Peltors OVER my hat....not as good of protection, I'm sure....but much warmer.
Feeding out 50% more feed/hay than usual on these single digit days. We don't really have any extra, but I figure they'll do better to be short a bit when its warmer. This weather is really hard on all of us animals.

you could just have George pull the thermo out till spring! George can drive that damned little truck then with the inside as cold as the weather is outside .:(
I found out what the problem is though .Those danged things came from the factory with "fail safe" thermostats in them .In other words if they fail ,they are supposed to fail wide open . Exactly what the danged thing would do.First stick completely closed ,the temp would go off the charts .Then the thing would fail open and freeze my arse off . I had to order one,a normal one .
Here's the irony of the whole thing .Some got loose from the very place they were made .I caught the problem shortly after they changed to this type which was originally made by White Rogers . Because of the "politics " the smart asses wouldn't take the electricians word they hard a problem .Funny ,I maintained at the time the thirty test stands that tested the engines .:what:
Now don't that just suck with a half life .:? Here I try to save their asses from a massive recall and damned if I don't get stuck with the dud that got away .If uncle Henry ,as in Ford were still alive I'd give him a piece of my mind .Mumble ,grumble .

Plan on getting up at 2:30 in the morning with Dad if we get the call from our friend, who plows at the giant shopping center area. Paid $12 an hour to shovel sidewalks or plow or whatever.

Sometime between me feeding and when Mike went over, a tree took out the fence, leaving a huge gap for them to just saunter over.
