I didn't see any of these to be able to know about outward symptoms, but they were removed because they were hazardous. Some that they looked at were already failed trees. I'm guessing some are conky and have fading crowns, and history of dead/ dying/ failed trees in the area.

I'm going to start with WA State Parks on the Arbor Crew on Tuesday. I hope to become dialed in on diseases and will try to get some before and after shots of the work. In residential arbo work, we rarely get to see the ones that are really rotten, so don't see lot of the telltale conks and really badly decayed trees.

Should all prove to be interesting.

careful, you are starting to sound like quite a fun-guy...

lol, I'm here all week....

Wow, any indications before the saw?

I guess that cross sec shows some outer decay and depression.

So the wife says that the only indication was 1 fruiting body. Then there was some Resistograph-ing. The fruiting body plus the targets warranted the felling. The Resistograph results were "50/50" for shell thickness being adequate to keep versus removal.

??

was it punky enough to be penetrated by a probe like an icepick?

Basal wounds are serious, which is why tree owners should pay for inspections.

She said, "OH YEAH. It was punky enough to be probed by a finger".

I think she meant penetrated by a finger.

Wait a minute, that doesn't sound right, either.

I think you know what she meant.

Was which part ice pick probe penetratable?
