I'm sure you all will like this video. especially those of us who do crane work..

Click on the top link entitled "Video -Update Number #4"

The ski area opened today...with limited operations. But I know it's way early. There's only an 18 inch base, all but 3 inches of that is from Wednesday's storm...and 33" up top.

A day lift ticket, including the new 2450 vertical foot gondola, is $73!! But I have a season's pass, which I got early for $900. I used to ski 40-90 days a season..will only have to ski 13 days to break even...and the pass is also good at Alpental /The Summit-at-Snoqualmie, which is where I've skiied more in recent years. It's only 60 easy freeway miles from my house, versus 90 to Crystal.

.... man made over here , I'm expected on skis the first .... always a tad rusty at the start of the season (age maybe) ... brand new boards first day too ....Wahoo Winter Skiing !

That video IS pretty frikkin awesome. It's like a crane job in reverse.

Oh no it's not. Season's pass is the only way to go if you're serious. I'm hoping to get my kiddo out a few times this year.

I am skiing in Austria in Feb, and hoping to take the kids to the french alps in january, but currently, thats looking unlikely due to the £2000 price tag. $900 is dirt cheep for a season pass, I wish I lived close to a ski resort.

$429 at Mt Ashland, $499 at Mt Shasta and $999 at Mt. Bachelor:O Wowzers. Guess I will stick to hunting and fishing!

Why so danged expensive? Isn't snow a free, renewable resource? Does it get damaged when skied on? I don't get it...

I live just down the road from a bunch of ski places, one where they held the Nagano olympics, so it must be pretty good. The Hakuba jumps are there too, good enough for world championship guys. I enjoy watching the jumpers practice, the sound of the air resistance off their bodies is awesome. I've never been skiing in my entire life. Where's the beach?
